Relieve back pain
If you suffer from any form of back pain, you will find the heated classes of Bikram yoga therapeutic. The combination of heat and humidity allows your body to perform deeper stretches without discomfort, which minimises your risk of injury. Bikram helps decompress the spine through a series of controlled moves and bends, which strengthen muscles to help support your back, By targeting supporting muscles, the poses associated with Bikram can stabilise your spine with moves that improve blood flow and also send essential nutrients to the discs cushioning your spine.
Not every type of yoga is ideal for someone with back pain. Ashtanga yoga, or so-called “power yoga,” involves push-ups and lunges and other exercises that may be too demanding for someone with back pain.
Bikram yoga is a great form of exercise that increases your flexibility, regulates your breathing and puts your mind into a meditative mode. It also stimulates serotonin releases in your brain which helps regulate your moods, appetite, and sleeping cycle which help you combat anxiety and depression. Bikram yoga positively influences chemical messengers in the brain, inflammation in the body, and other biological factors in much the same way as antidepressants and psychotherapy.
Bikram yoga also stimulates the pituitary gland to produce endorphin, which are your body's natural pain relief.
By practising a minimum of 10 classes per month you can normalise your weight. Digestion and respiration as well as endocrine, lymphatic and elimination systems will begin to work in harmony. Your appetite will normalise, and your unhealthy cravings will diminish. All of these results will help to normalise your weight if you devote yourself to regular practice.
As a beginner, it takes 3 classes for your body to understand the proper approach to the posture, and 10 classes for your body to begin to work with postures. Be patient.
